The Road to Re-election of OBAMA

Sunday, March 25th, 2012

In September, President Obama will be in Charlotte, North Carolina accepting the nomination for his second term as President of our United States.

Delegates will be Tennessee’s voice at the convention, stand on the convention floor as national Democratic leaders deliver their vision for our country and vote to nominate President Barack Obama for re-election.

This past Saturday, the first step of delegate selection was completed at the District Democratic Conventions across Tennessee where district delegates were elected. This Saturday on March 14th the trip to Charlotte continues as the TNDP Executive Committee elects delegates at large. On this day the full Tennessee delegation selection will be complete.

The day of celebration will end as Tennessee Democrats celebrates Jackson Day in Nashville, TN. Join the Tennessee celebration as we celebrate our history and our future.

Unicoi County Jackson Day is Sept. 24!

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

The Unicoi County Democratic Party Jackson Day Celebration is scheduled for Saturday, September 24th at the Erwin Town Hall at 11 a.m. There is no charge for the event but we are asking people to make a donation. The fundraiser will consist of a meal and live music. There will be some political items for sale (buttons, bumper stickers and Tee Shirts).

Live music will be provided by Tommy White (Soloist, Acoustic Guitarist, & Song Writer) from Bean Station, Tennessee.

Next year is very important for control of the White House and Congress. The Republican extremists have shown us they intent to dismantle Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Organized Labor, Voting Rights, Injury Compensation, Unemployment Compensation, Public Education, School Lunches and all social programs designed to strengthen the working middle class.

The Unicoi County Democratic Party will continue to fight for the working middle class of our county, state and nation but this fight requires money. Last year’s ruling by the Supreme Court opened the flood gates for the wealthy and corporations to flood elections with money in attempts to buy elections. The Republicans have shown us they are for sale to special interest. Please make an effort to attend or make a donation. Every dollar will be spent to defend the working middle class.

Happy Labor Day

Monday, September 5th, 2011

As we celebrate Labor Day this weekend, the Tennessee Democratic Party is also preparing for Jackson Day 2011.

This year’s Jackson Day will be a historic celebration of the life and accomplishments of Governor Ned McWherter.

Please join us in Nashville on Oct. 1st as we salute a governor who went to work for working families.

Labor Day also reminds us that this has been a difficult year for working families with extreme, corporate-backed attacks against workers taking place around the country — and right here in Tennessee. These attacks on the American middle class show us exactly how important our work is.

We’re fighting for all Tennesseans. Our victories — like the 40-hour work week and the creation of a broad middle-class — have improved the quality of life for all Americans. And our shared prosperity has always been opposed by the power elite.

That’s why we want you at Jackson Day.

Folks like Ned McWherter, who understood the value of hard work, pulled together and set our state down a different path. Now it’s time for us to pull together and carry on that legacy.

Click here to purchase tickets for Jackson Day 2011. Your ticket purchase will provide crucial support to candidates who believe in creating opportunity for everyone.

We are standing up to billionaires and politicians who attacked Tennessee teachers and union workers. We are fighting for investments in our children’s futures, our schools, and our roads and bridges. We are fighting for good American jobs, wages and benefits that should come with a hard day’s work.

And we need you to join us Oct. 1 in Nashville to keep this movement growing. Click here to purchase tickets.

Thank you for everything you do and have a happy Labor Day.

Jackson Day 2011 will be held in Nashville on Saturday, October 1st!

Today, we are excited to announce that at this year’s Jackson Day we will be celebrating and paying tribute to the life and legacy of Governor Ned Ray McWherter.

As we work together to rebuild Tennessee and restore the American Dream for our children, our families and communities, we would do well by the next generation in fighting for the same values Gov. McWherter fought for: fairness, dignity and responsibility—for all.

We look forward to seeing you October 1st,
