The GOP’s Obamacare Death Toll

getcovered_medicare_map_110713In the past, voters never had to worry about their representative causing actual harm, with the exception of supporting bad policy and legislation, which was the extent of harm from even the worst of elected officials. If there is one thing a voter never expects of their representatives is that they would deliberately inflict death of their constituents, but this was before Obamacare and the extraordinary lengths Republicans will go to permit actual death for the people they were elected to serve. Republicans have even spread blatant lies about policies created to protect Americans to instill fear in the public and create fear-mongering lies to prevent people from receiving quality health care at a good price.

It was not that long ago that idiot Sarah Palin warned, “seniors and the disabled will have to stand in front of Obama’s ‘death panel’ so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their ‘level of productivity in society,’ whether they are worthy of health care.” What has been [funny] sad is the cruel truth that in a sense Palin was right; the poor, seniors, and the disabled have faced the Republican controlled [death panels] legislations that decided they are not worthy of healthcare. Republicans rejected a major component of the Affordable Care Act [Medicaid expansion] and this decision resulted in a death sentence to thousands of Americans in many states including Tennessee. In Tennessee, two to three people will die each day that passes since Medicaid expansion was not enacted.

According to a recently published report by a Harvard Medical School team of researchers, Republican governors and legislatures will be responsible for sentencing thousands of their constituents to death every year due to lack of medical care and the GOP’s intense hatred of Obamacare and President Obama.

The report, “Opting Out Of Medicaid Expansion: The Health And Financial Impacts,” has calculated the body count in Republican states rejecting free Medicaid expansion for millions of Americans because they hate the Affordable Care Act more than they care about their residents. According to the Harvard report the projected death toll is shocking. All told, 24 Republican states will kill off up to 17,000 poor Americans every year and these deaths are totally preventable. What is sad is the cost of saving these lives in Republican states is nothing.
